Day 9 of post tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, new ear tubes Lulu. Lulu woke up this morning wanting to cuddle. She kept saying, “I love you so much, Mommy.” She was cheerful. Since the surgery, she’s had one real tantrum that lasted 20 minutes. This is down from her 8 hours a day of screaming and puking.

SPD Lulu was not pleasant. Most kids have their challenging moments in the day. Lulu’s emotional state was like an egg that would crack at any second. She did not have challenging moments. Lulu had good moments. The rest of her day was emotionally challenging.

Here is an example. One morning last January, Lulu hit her little brother. I disciplined her by trying to put her in time out. For 4 hours straight, Lulu screamed, punched me and threw up on me several times while I restrained her. She kept screaming over and over, “I hate you, Mommy! You are a bad Mommy! I wish you would stop breathing like our cat!” My husband took her brother inside the house while I battled Lulu. I remember this day in particular because I had to go to a work meeting right after this tantrum.

Post surgery. I haven’t needed that 5PM glass of wine to get through bedtime. Who am I kidding? It’s a half a bottle. Lulu is being nice to me. Lulu is being nice to everyone. I’m not sure who this person is,but, I am looking forward to getting to know her.
